Artunderamonkey.com was started in late 2009 as a response to the challenge of finding not only genuinely affordable art, but affordable original art without compromising on quality.

Many online and high street galleries now promote the idea of affordable art. But ‘affordable’ is a relative term and prices for quality original art can still often start in the many hundreds, if not thousands, of pounds. So for many people, particularly if they are new to buying art, price can still be a deterrent.

Adopting the colloquial London slang “a monkey” for £500, Art Under a Monkey focuses on providing contemporary art with no compromise on quality and caps their prices at under £500, with most works for sale for much less.

We don't do reproductions, prints or posters. We don't fleece our artists. And we don't do intimidating high-art speak. We do have strong environmental and ethical policies and are proud of the charitable associations we’ve set up with organisations such as Kids Company, FareShare, Crisis and the World Society for the Protection of Animals, to which we donate a percentage of each of our artwork sales.
